Displayed on a handcrafted teak hardwood platform are four precision- made discs, each turned from rare or exotic wood. Every disc is fully examinable, showcasing natural grain, weight, and craftsmanship. A length of colored rope is also supplied.
A spectator threads the rope through the hole of one disc. The remaining discs are then slid unto the rope over both ends, unmistakably trapping them in place. The rope is tied into a solid knot–no cuts, no switches, no slight-of-hand.
The rope is placed over a spectator’s head so all the discs hang down their back. In a moment of pure impossibility, the performer announces that the disc will be removed-instantly and cleanly-in any order a member of the audience chooses.
One by one the named discs are removed from the rope.
The rope is then lifted forwards and shown clearly. The knot remains tied.
